Ban the phrase “NO HOMO!”

Posted by: Kash on: 10/10/2009

Attention! We have to put death to the phrases “no homo” “no rainbow” and “no bruno” and whatever lame ass phrases that have been made up recently! No grown man or woman for that matter should even have these phrases in their vocabulary for any reason! Pretty soon we’re gonna see “no homo” in the dictionary and that’ll be the day you’ll hear that I went on a rapper massacre. Seriously though I don’t think the phrase is necessary, if you are secure in who you are than “no homo” doesn’t matter! I think this video might shed some light as to why we should put death to the phrase and bury it! Check it out! Hope ya’ll get a good laugh, I sure did!

Taking N*gger/N*gga Out of My Vocabulary

Posted by: Kash on: 10/05/2009

A week ago I read an article about a young boy by the name of Jonathan McCoy. Jonathan has been emphasizing the message of banning the word Nigger/Nigga.  Checkout the BlackVoices article by Laura Adibe and the video of young Jonathan below:

Too often, as a society, we insult our young people, labeling them as a lost generation. Here’s a young man who has taken leadership in to his 11-year-old hands. gave a rousing speech earlier this year to his church in Baltimore about why our community needs to drop the ‘N’ word. His speech, “A New Petition,” called for the discontinuation of that six-letter word, and the slang usage of the word.

Jonathan E. McCoy

“I’m sending a message to everyone who knowingly or ignorantly uses this word to describe our people, whether you’re a gangster rapper who uses it to communicate with your boys, or someone who looks down on us who haven’t got a college education,” said the pint-sized orator. “Whatever the case, it’s time to discontinue the use of this word. It is implausible that 40 years after the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., we still use this word that holds no worth in our lives nor our future.”

So after watching this video I was truly inspired.  Like the article stated I too labeled the younger generations a lost generation, however Jonathan McCoy has restored my hope.  I pray that he becomes worldy but not a victim of the world.

Now on to the topic of the word Nigger/Nigga. I will admit I have used this word plenty of times to describe someone ignorant and I even used it as a term of endearment.  However, I’ve always felt so conflicted when using it.  Even though I used the A and not the ER, I still believe that it holds the same emotion.  As an African American woman I feel that the word shouldn’t be passed on to generations in a positive light.  I believe that we should teach our kids what the word means, teach them the different uses of the word, and allow them to choose on whether they should use the word.

After all it is just a word and WE have the power to minimize it.  I believe that is what Jonathan’s message was all about.  Minimizing the word and making it powerless to the point that WE don’t have to use the word anymore.  Jay-Z told Oprah that the younger generations took a negative word and made it smaller by using it ourselves.  I agree, and will I continue to use the word? I just might, but I will make sure that I’m more aware of how I use the word and being conscious on what other words I can replace it with.  We should make that a challenge and build up our vocabularies.  It’s always good to broaden our horizons.

My Tyra Show Experience

Posted by: Kash on: 09/28/2009

tyrashowRecently I was on the Tyra Show. Welll maybe not on the show per se, but I was in the audience and boooyy did I have a ball.  Tyra is so beautiful in person, which some people would say duhh we knew that already, but there are some celebrities who are beautiful on tv and unattractive in person. Anywho, my friends and I were in the audience for two shows and Tyra fed us some snacks! I thought that was nice of her because most shows don’t do that! So let’s get to the line up of both shows. So the first show featured a British woman with two vijay jays (two vaginas for those who don’t know what vijay jay means). I was shocked that there was someone in the world with two vijay jays, its hard to deal with one but two?!? Anyway, fast forward to the next show about cheaters ( I skipped a few segments sorry guys).  To some degree the stories sounded a little far-fetched because the whole topic was about how men have a cheating gene called alyl(I don’t know the correct spelling).  Whether it is in a man’s nature to cheat, the doctor on the show proved that most men can control their cheating urges. THAT’S RIGHT MEN YOU HAVE NO EXCUSES AS FAR AS CHEATING! Welp! That’s all I like to share about my Tyra experience. So until next post… ~hugs&luv

Why Can’t You Just Give Me A Seat?

Posted by: Kash on: 09/28/2009

So I was coming home from school and dreading the bus ride home (sigh).  When I got on the bus it was a lil crowded so that meant I had to stand up for some of the bus ride. However, this guy gave me his seat and I thought “aww that was nice.” So I said thank you and sat down, but it didn’t stop there! DO YA’LL KNOW THAT THIS GUY HAD THE NERVE TO TRY TO HOLLA AT ME! I thought to myself ” THIS IS UNBELIEVABLE!” NO this dude didn’t expect to holla at me cuz he gave me his seat. Next time just let me stand up! Now don’t get me wrong, I appreciate and love a gentleman. HOWEVER! If  i’m not into you I won’t waste your time. So I thought that was pretty bold of him, but hey I’m not mad. I guess a guy has to do what he has to do to get a girl’s attention.  Buut whatever happened to just doing things out of the goodness of your heart?  Maybe I’m just a lil naive…smh…oh well! Until next post… ~hugs&luv

So if you seen the 2009 VMA’S you know exactly what I’m talking about right now. BUT! In case you didn’t, here’s a recap…

Janet opens up the awards with a tribute to her brother Michael Jackson…and the performance was wonderful. I got a little emotional when I seen her dance to their collabo song “Scream”.  However, I knew something was gonna go wrong after that because it’s MTV we’re talking about. Kanye does what he does best and takes the shine off of Taylor Swift who won for best female video and shouts into the mic that Beyonce should’ve won. **This is where I might offend some people** BEYONCE WILL NOT WIN EVERYTHING! She has achieved a lot in her career, CAN WE LET SOMEBODY ELSE WIN SOMETHING PLEASE!? Single Ladies is a good video, but how hard is it to dance around in a leotard…I still respect you Bey! Speaking of Beyonce her performance was definitely one of the best of the night. She killed it and I respect her for allowing Taylor Swift to say her thank you’s in place of saying her own. Ok, so Lady Gaga, wtf?? I have nothing to say about her, but my friends on Facebook and Twitter were calling her Satan LOL! She is just bizarre, but she makes good music though! Last but not least Jay-Z and Alicia Keys closed out the show and they did great! BTW Jay-Z’s concert at Madison Square Garden on the Fuse channel was the best! (JUST HAD TO ADD IN THAT IN THERE) The VMA’s was cool overall, Kanye is a genius though, the whole world will be talking about him for the rest of the week. Good way to start us off Ye!

I eventually want to take my profits and start my own nonprofit organizations. Yes organizations with an S. Somebody, somewhere (I think it was my mama) said to be a blessing unto others while showcasing my own blessings. So I encourage you to put your dreams into action and become a blessing! :-)
